The modern T20 player’s barometer is no longer purely the number of runs scored or wickets taken. It is about the impact a player can make on any given match.

This relates to a five-ball cameo, a wicket-maiden over, or simply a spectacular catch that changes the momentum of the match.

Utilising this metric, we’ve looked past the traditional milestones of centuries and five-wicket hauls and selected a list of “Incredible Moments” from Betway SA20 Season 4 in this new series.

SEASON 4 INCREDIBLE MOMENT 11

BREETZKE AND STUBBS REKINDLE SCHOOLBOY MEMORIES WITH TITLE-WINNING PARTNERSHIP

Season 4 Final - Pretoria Capitals vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape | 24 January 2026 | Newlands

There is a unique, almost telepathic chemistry that exists between cricketers who grew up playing together. During a sold-out Season 4 Final at electric Newlands, that exact magic was unleashed.

With the crown on the line, Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs didn't just steer their franchise to a third Betway SA20 title against the Pretoria Capitals; they rekindled memories of their schoolboy exploits on the legendary Pollock Oval of Grey High School in Gqeberha.

Chasing a target under the intense pressure of a Newlands final is enough to make the most seasoned internationals falter. When the Sunrisers lost early wickets, the Pretoria Capitals sensed an opening. Enter Breetzke and Stubbs.

The duo dismantled the Capitals’ attack with a breathtaking combination of Breetzke’s classical strokeplay and Stubbs’s 360-degree power-hitting.

The telepathic understanding was most notable in their running between the wickets with Breetzke and Stubbs barely needing to look at each other.

They also targeted the Capitals' premier bowlers with clinical precision. When the spinners tried to restrict them, Stubbs went deep in his crease to launch towering sixes over the mid-wicket boundary, while Breetzke effortlessly pierced the off-side field.

After sealing the victory, an emotional Breetzke reflected on the surreal nature of the moment:

“To be there at the end with Stubbo … we’ve played for many years together and become good mates. So, to do that tonight was really special.”
