INCREDIBLE SEASON 4 MOMENTS: ANRICH NORTJE BRINGS THE HEAT TO PAARL
The modern T20 player’s barometer is no longer purely the number of runs scored or wickets taken. It is about the impact a player can make on any given match.
This relates to a five-ball cameo, a wicket-maiden over, or simply a spectacular catch that changes the momentum of the match.
Utilising this metric, we’ve looked past the traditional milestones of centuries and five-wicket hauls and selected a list of “Incredible Moments” from Betway SA20 Season 4 in this new series.
SEASON 4 INCREDIBLE MOMENT 2
Anrich Nortje: 4/13 off 3 overs (12 dot balls, economy rate 4.33)
Sunrisers Eastern Cape vs Paarl Royals | 27 December 2025 | Boland Park
There are few sights in T20 cricket as exhilarating as a genuinely quick fast bowler finding their rhythm. On a searing afternoon at Boland Park, the Paarl Royals could simply not bear Anrich Nortje’s heat.
After missing the previous two Betway SA20 seasons due to injury, Nortje didn't just mark his return to the tournament; he completely decimated the record books. His blistering spell of 4/13 in three overs was the catalyst for the Royals' historic collapse to 49 all out - the lowest total in SA20 history.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape had already set an imposing target of 187, courtesy of a rapid-fire 66-run opening stand between Quinton de Kock (42 off 24) and Jonny Bairstow (31 off 33), followed by an explosive, unbeaten 62 off 28 balls from young Jordan Hermann.
The Royals’ chase simply never got out of the starting blocks. Marco Jansen and Adam Milne set the trap, reducing the home side to a precarious 30/4 in the Powerplay.
Then, Nortje took the ball, where he used his express pace to devastating effect.
He rushed Asa Tribe with a quick bouncer, castled Delano Potgieter, and had both Bjorn Fortuin and Mujeeb Ur Rahman hurried into edges, caught behind by De Kock. When the dust settled in just 11.5 overs, the Royals had been routed for 49.
Nortje’s 4/13 was a violent, beautiful reminder that raw, unadulterated pace remains the ultimate equalizer. He didn't rely on mystery spin or clever slower balls; he simply bullied the opposition with heat and precision.
The Uitenhage Express was back!
Nortje's incredible spell earned him the Player of the Match and Absa Moneyball Saver awards.
