Joburg Super Kings ready for a new era

Joburg Super Kings will begin a new era under coach Albie Morkel on the road in the Western Cape in Betway SA20 Season 5.

Morkel, who was part of the former coach Stephen Fleming’s JSK coaching staff, is entrenched in the Super Kings ethos, having also played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

The former Proteas allrounder will hope his team hits the ground running against Paarl Royals in their competition opener at Boland Park on January 18 before travelling down the N1 highway two days later to face MI Cape Town at Newlands in the first instalment of the ‘El Clasico’ Derby.

JSK will head home after their coastal adventures to host triple champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape in what’s expected to be cracker-jack encounter at the Bullring on Saturday, January 23.

From thereon JSK zigzag around the country before a three-game home stretch in early February that features visits from the Royals, Capitals, and MI Cape Town, 

The double Jukskei Derby against neighbours Pretoria Capitals on 5 and 8 February respectively could also have a major impact on JSK’s season.

JSK will look to lock in a Playoffs spot on their own terms early on, especially with Qualifier 2 and the Eliminator set to be held at Wanderers.
