YOU CAN'T BEAT THESE BETWAY SA20 GLOVEMEN

While batters and bowlers hog the headlines in Betway SA20, the exploits of those with gloves behind the stumps is our focus in this edition of Trivia Tuesday.

Over the two seasons of South Africa’s premier T20 league there have been a number of incredible efforts by wicketkeepers which deserved headlines as much as a massive six or pinpoint yorker might. Take Tristan Stubbs’ flying catch to dismiss Moeen Ali as one of five dismissals the Sunrisers Eastern Cape ‘keeper took against Joburg Super Kings.

Similarly, the Super Kings’ Donovan Ferreira pulled off an incredible stumping down the leg-side to dismiss Jimmy Neesham in the Highveld Derby against Pretoria Capitals.

Ultimately, however, the most consistent wicketkeeper across the two seasons of the League has been Jos Buttler, whose 19 dismissals for Paarl Royals is just one better off than his England understudy, Phil Salt.

While Salt is the leading ‘catcher’ with 17, Buttler’s four stumpings to go with his 15 catches places him at the top of the table of most dismissals.

Completing the top three is Stubbs, who took over the ‘keeping duties from Adam Rossington this campaign and claimed a season record 16 dismissals courtesy of 15 catches and a fantastic leg-side stumping of his own to claim Sam Curran’s wicket. Rossington would have been impressed as he arguably has the fastest hands in SA20 considering half of his 10 dismissals have come from stumpings.

All told, all six of the franchises feature in the list of top 10 dismissals, but Buttler is the only wicketkeeper to not have shared duties.
