BOSCH PRAISES DSG TOP FIVE GOING INTO KINGSMEAD OPENER

Durban’s Super Giants allrounder Eathan Bosch believes his team’s narrow 15-run victory over MI Cape Town in the Betway Season 4 opener will fill the team with confidence ahead of the rematch on Sunday at Kingsmead.

DSG won just two games last season to finish last overall on the 2025 table, and after posting a record 232/5 at Newlands saw MI Cape Town opener Ryan Rickelton spearhead the chase with an incredible 113.

With two overs remaining, the defending champions required just 31 runs with six wickets still left in the dugout, and it seemed DSG were going to fall to yet another defeat.

But Bosch (4/24) held his nerve in the final over, conceding only six runs, and dismissed both Rickelton and George Linde to edge the visitors over the line.

“I think when you face tough games like that where it kind of gets down to the wire, it puts you in good stead going forward into the next game, especially if you find yourself in similar scenarios,” he said.

“So, I think we were really calm and quite clear with what we wanted to do.”

Bosch believes having Proteas T20 captain Aiden Markram join the team for Season 4 is already reaping the benefits, especially during the crunch moments.

“It's really nice to have Aiden standing next to you,” Bosch said of his new skipper. “It keeps you nice and calm but yeah all in all it was great to get over the line.”

DSG’s power-packed batting line-up served up an appetiser for their Kingsmead home crowd with the all-Kiwi opening pair of Devon Conway and Kane Williamson setting the table for Jos Buttler, Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and Evan Jones to unleash the pyrotechnics later on at Newlands.

Bosch believes there is certainly much more to look forward to from their explosive batters.

“There's a hell of a lot of games within that top five, so yeah I think their records speak for themselves,” he said. “They are really top-class players and that's the reason why they play all over the world, so for us youngsters coming and rubbing shoulders with those guys is really beneficial for a lot of us.

“It's really nice to have them on my team and I don't have to bowl to them, so yeah really hopeful they can do well for us for the whole comp.”

MI Cape Town, meanwhile, will be eager to bounce back to avoid consecutive defeats.

“I was a bit chaotic,” Rickelton said of the Newlands Boxing Day opener. “We haven’t found our straps yet. Obviously, the first game but you can only see us improve from here.”
