SIX STARS TO GET THE BULLRING BAYING FOR MORE

The Wanderers will stage its first match of the Betway SA20 on Saturday when Joburg Super Kings host arch-rivals MI Cape Town.

We profile six players to watch.

Faf du Plessis - Joburg Super Kings

The home team captain just loves batting at the Wanderers. Faf du Plessis etched his name into record books when he struck the maiden Betway SA20 century at the Bullring last season. He had previously also scored his first T20I century at the same ground all those years ago. Expect Du Plessis to assess the conditions early on before launching an assault later.

Ryan Rickelton - MI Cape Town

Few people know the Wanderers surface better than the MI Cape Town opener with Ryan Rickelton having grown up at the Bullring. He simply loves the ball coming on to the bat quicker on the Highveld. Rickelton will also be eager to build on his half-century against DSG to show that he can be consistent at this level.

Leus du Plooy - Joburg Super Kings

The attacking batter Leus du Plooy joined the growing list of South Africans to switch allegiance to England after a lengthy County Championship stint. Du Plooy’s time abroad has certainly helped improve his game with the left-hander now one of the most explosive batters on the circuit. 

Olly Stone - MI Cape Town

It has been a frustrating time for Olly Stone over the past 12 months as he has suffered a host of injuries that has curtailed his England international prospects. But the fast bowler showed his quality in Season 1 with his ability to strike regularly for MI Cape Town. He will undoubtedly enjoy  the extra pace and bounce the Highveld surface has to offer.

David Wiese - Joburg Super Kings

David Wiese boasts extensive T20 experience having travelled the world over the last decade playing in the various Leagues. It has allowed him to understand the tactics required to be successful in the shortest format, especially at the death with both bat and ball. Wiese will be Du Plessis’ 'Go-to-Guy' in the clutch moments.

Connor Esterhuizen - MI Cape Town

MICT coach Robin Peterson loves a bolter and sprang a surprise with the inclusion of their rookie, Connor Esterhuizen, ahead of the more experienced George Linde at Kingsmead. The youngster certainly showed off his potential with a delightful square drive on the up that formed part of an exciting cameo. Hailing from the Highveld, Esterhuizen will like nothing more than another crack to show off his skills.
