MI CAPE TOWN'S GEORGE LINDE DOUSES DRAGONS' FIRE

MI Cape Town allrounder George Linde delivered a perfect performance with bat and ball to power Western Province to the T20 Challenge Qualifier 2 at the Wanderers last night.

Linde lit up the Bullring when Province needed him most in the Eliminator as the powerful left-hander went full throttle at the death.

He cleared the boundary on five occasions and struck another boundary in his 23-ball assault.

Linde finished on an undefeated 49 to lift Province to 166/5 at 101/5 after 14.4 overs.

Due to Linde’s pyrotechnics, Province added 65 runs off the final 32 deliveries. 

The Dragons’ run-chase got off to the worst possible start with Joburg Super Kings recruit Beuran Hendricks enjoying his time at his new home ground.

The veteran left-arm seamer removed both Dragons openers in a double-wicket third over to put Province in the driving seat.

Fellow new JSK new signing Wihan Lubbe counterattacked for the Dragons with 46 off 20 before Pretoria Capitals left-arm spinner Kyle Simmonds ran through the middle order with figures of 3/14.

It left Linde to mop up the tail as he streamrolled the Dragons to finish with 3/15.

Province now face the powerful Titans outfit in Friday's Qualifier 2 to determine who will face the Lions in the grand final on Sunday.
