FOR THE RECORD: SEASON 2 MOST 6S

A total of 377 sixes were hit during the inaugural season of Betway SA20, but that record was well and truly smashed in 2024. This time around there were 454 maximums... some landed on stadium roofs, others bounced across adjoining roads or ended up in neighbouring apartment blocks and railway lines, while you had to be alert in hospitality suites and commentary boxes.

Batters took no mercy on bowlers, and the leader of the pack should be no surprise. Heinrich Klaasen had spinners breaking out in cold sweats, spectators salivating at the prospect of nabbing their share of the Betway Catch R2 Million prize money (and two did off his bat) and reserve umpires were at the ready to bring out the spare bag of balls when 'Klaasie' was at the crease. All told, the Durban's Super Giants smashed 37 sixes this campaign... almost double what last year's leader, Will Jacks, hit (19).

It must be said, that it was only during the Playoffs, in Qualifier 2 against Joburg Super Kings to be specific that Klaasen overtook the 34 hit by Ryan Rickelton during the group stage. It meant that it was the third accolade that the MI Cape Town opener lost out on to Klaasen... following the Betway Player of the Season and Batter of the Season rankings leadership.
