DE KOCK'S ROYAL FORM CONTINUES AT CPL

Durban’s Super Giants superstar Quinton de Kock’s splendid run of form in the Caribbean Premier League continued on Tuesday evening with the southpaw powering the Barbados Royals into the playoffs.

De Kock struck 59 not out off 38 balls (3x4 ; 4x6) to help the Royals’ cruise past St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ paltry 110 all out with nine wickets and 8.4 overs to spare. 

Proteas teammates Anrich Nortje (Pretoria Capitals) and Tabraiz Shamsi (Joburg Super Kings) were not able to contain De Kock as they conceded 0/25 and 0/29 respectively for the Patriots. 

The Royals top the CPL log with 10 points after six matches, and this is primarily due to De Kock’s run-spree in the Caribbean.

The dashing left-hander is the competition’s leading run-scorer with 367 runs at the mind-blowing average of 91.75 and strike-rate of 170.69. It includes a century and two half-centuries. 

Such has been De Kock’s dominance that he leads second-placed Andre Fletcher, who has played two matches more, by 157 runs.

De Kock’s boundary count in CPL24 has been astonishing with the Proteas star smashing 29 fours and 23 sixes already in just six innings. 

Justin Greaves is next best with 22 boundaries, but has only managed four maximums. Meanwhile, Shimron Hetmyer has 16 sixes with just three fours. 

De Kock’s DSG teammate Naveen-ul-Haq had earlier delivered a good spell of seam bowling, claiming 3/21 from his four overs, and along with Raheem Cornwall’s 5/16 ensured the Royals’ finished their stretch of home fixtures at the Kensington Oval on a positive note.
