BETWAY SA20 OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR SEASON 4 PHOTOGRAPHY INTERNSHIP

Betway SA20 is thrilled to announce the opening of applications for the Season 4 Photography Internship, following the success of the programme in Seasons 2 and 3.

Now entering its third year, the internship provides emerging photographers with a unique, hands-on opportunity to capture the excitement, action, and behind-the-scenes moments of South Africa’s premier T20 cricket League.

The Internship will officially open for submissions from 13 November to 30 November 2025 and is designed to support and uplift young photographic talent aged 19 to 25 years old, in key regions, including Gauteng, Western Cape, Durban, and Gqeberha. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contributing to SA20’s official media platforms while gaining invaluable experience in a fast-paced, live-sport environment.

Applicants should possess their own camera equipment, submit a motivational letter and three images taken by them, and can commit to the internship schedule during the tournament season.

Former SA20 Photography Intern Kutloano Maseko reflected on the programme's impact and the valuable lessons learned during the last season.

During the internship, he had the opportunity to experience the exciting environment of live sports production. “One of the biggest things I learned was the importance of speed and efficiency in delivering images during live matches. Balancing capturing key moments while still delivering in real time isn’t easy, and it’s something that can only truly be mastered through experience,” he said. Maseko highlighted the opportunity to work closely with cricket photographer Arjun, noting how observing his workflow in high-pressure moments contributed significantly to his own development, and that the internship opened many doors for him in cricket photography. Offering advice to future applicants, he encouraged upcoming interns to embrace the whole experience. Enjoy it. Have fun with your camera. Don’t be afraid to ask questions because there’s so much knowledge around you if you’re willing to learn.

Graeme Smith, Betway SA20 League Commissioner, said: “The Photography Internship is an exceptional initiative for young talent to gain real-world experience in professional sport. Some of our past interns have gone on to work on major projects after their time with Betway SA20, and we are excited to see how this season’s emerging photographers will capture the energy and stories of the League.”

All applications to be sent to media@sa20.co.za, accompanied by a portfolio (3 images), a motivational letter, and the region being applied for, by 30 November 2025.
