KG FINALLY SENDS QUINNY PACKING

Quinton de Kock and Kagiso Rabada have arguably been the Proteas’ biggest global stars since the retirement of AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn.

The pair have shared great moments together both on and off the field for the national team, which has fostered a great friendship.

They also know each other’s games intimately with De Kock often providing Rabada with advice from behind the stumps in regards to his line and length, while “KG” would also point out any potential weaknesses for 'Quinny' to work on in training. 

But often the close friendship has been needed to be put aside as they have had to go into battle against each other both domestically in South Africa and in the Indian Premier League for their respective franchises. 

But until Thursday evening at Kingsmead in the Betway SA20 clash between Durban’s Super Giants and MI Cape Town, De Kock held the upper hand over Rabada with the fast bowler yet to dismiss the attacking opener. 

MI Cape Town had posted a formidable 207/5 with De Kock’s lookalike Ryan Rickelton striking a blitzkrieg 87 of 51 balls (6x4, 6x6) to set the visitors on their way.

DSG therefore required De Kock to get the innings off to a positive start if they were to complete a record Betway SA20 chase. 

Rabada was intent to apply early pressure on DSG though and started well with the new ball. 

The MI Cape Town talisman received just reward when he invited De Kock to drive at a length delivery outside the off stump with just his fourth delivery of the innings.

De Kock attempted to muscle the ball through the covers, but managed only to hit it straight to Sam Curran at short cover. 

De Kock’s dismissal brought Rabada much gratification as he could finally celebrate sending his good friend back to the pavilion.
