Revitalised Sam Curran ready to unleash his 'X-Factor' for DSG

Betway SA20 fans will feel they have yet to see the best of Sam Curran after his two seasons at MI Cape Town.

But Durban’s Super Giants will be hoping to unlock all that talent and match-winning ability that saw Curran make his Test debut as a 19-year-old and be named  Player of the T20 World Cup during England’s victorious campaign in 2022.

By all accounts, the Super Giants are striking while the iron is hot, with Curran enjoying a resurgence following a ‘reset’ last year after being on the circuit non-stop for a decade.

"I went back to coaches that know me," Curran said last year. "I've obviously experienced such highs (early on) in my career, and it was just about slowing down fractionally and getting back to enjoying it."

The rewards have been evident, with the now 28-year-old revitalised. This form led to championship success in the ILT20 and a recall to the England T20 side, where Curran played a prominent role with the ball at the T20 World Cup in India earlier this year. He is now being earmarked as former England captain Ben Stokes’ successor across all formats.

Curran's previous stint in Betway SA20 at MI Cape Town yielded 14 wickets, 231 runs and six catches

It certainly is not just talk, with Curran enjoying a hot streak with the bat in the ongoing Hundred competition, where he has struck 218 runs at an average of 43.60 and a strike rate of 146.30. Curran has also added the “moonball” to his artillery - a delivery that hangs in the air at approximately 75 km/h.

This is the all-round ‘X-factor’ that DSG are acquiring for Betway SA20 Season 5.

He also brings along valuable IPL experience, where he was once a record-breaking $1.95 million / R31.4 million purchase by Punjab Kings.
