THE SA20 PLAYERS AND THE SCHOOLS THEY ATTENDED
School pride is strong in South Africa, so it wouldn't have been lost on alumni and current pupils of Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool that their old boy, Dewald Brevis, is now the record-holder for highest price fetched at an SA20 Player Auction - ahead of a Pretoria Boys' High School old boy in Aiden Markram.
The rest of the top ten sales at SA20 auctions include, Tristan Stubbs (Grey High School), Wiaan Mulder (St Stithians Boys' College) and Gerald Coetzee (St Andrew's School Bloemfontein), Rilee Rossouw (Grey College), Nandre Burger (Hoërskool Monument), Marco Jansen (Potchefstroom Gimnasium), Matthew Breetzke (Grey High School and Wayne Parnell (Grey High School) suggesting a well-paying future if you've attended the Gqeberha-based Grey!
That said, looking across all the players set to play in SA20 Season 4, 77 of them completed high school in South Africa with a Pretoria-based school emerging with the highest number: Hoërskool Waterkloof. Those with 'Klofies' connections will be able to cheer on six alumni in the upcoming season, namely the Hermann brothers, Jordan (Sunrisers Eastern Cape) and Rubin (Paarl Royals) as well as Tristan Luus (MI Cape Town), Gideon Peters (Pretoria Capitals), Evan Jones (Durban's Super Giants) and Hardus Viljoen (Paarl Royals).
St Stithians find themselves in second place with five alumni in Wiaan Mulder (Joburg Super Kings), Kwena Maphaka and Marques Ackerman (both Durban's Super Giants) and the MI Cape Town pair of Ryan Rickelton and Kagiso Rabada.
Third place with four alumni each includes: Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies), Grey High School, King Edward VII School (KES), Hoërskool Menlopark, St John's College and Wynberg Boys' High School.
