SEC'S WORRALL ENJOYING 'BRILLIANT' EXPERIENCE AND JANSEN PARTNERSHIP

Sunrisers Eastern Cape's Australian signing Daniel Worrall has certainly enjoyed his time with the defending Betway SA20 champions, and learning how to adapt to the different pitches in South Africa.

The 32-year-old right-arm pace bowler from Melbourne arrived in Gqeberha pre-season as a replacement for Brydon Carse, who misses out on Season 2 through international commitments.

“My experience at the tournament has been brilliant thus far. It is such a really great group of lads, all supremely talented,” said Worrall, who claimed 3-22 against the Capitals.

“Some older heads that are experienced, and some younger guys that are making their way. I think we have a great team culture.

“The surfaces so far … we’ve had a bit of everything actually. We’ve had low and slow, some fast pitches, and then we had the one the other night at home against Pretoria …

“I think you get those different conditions all around the country. I think the big thing over here is that you have the coastal pitches, and then of course the pitches in Joburg and Pretoria.”

Worrall has formed a devastating new-ball partnership with Marco Jansen, and believes the key to their success upfront is due to their contrasting styles.

“I have had a lot of fun with Marco throughout the tournament. It is a funny partnership. It could not be any more different even if we tried,” he said.

“He is 6ft 9 and I am not even 6ft. Right-arm and left-arm swinging either way. He has been named in the ICC ODI Team of the Year, so it is always nice to share a field with guys on top of their game.”

The Sunrisers have also bolstered their squad with an additional seamer with Afghanistan fast bowler Fareed Ahmad Malik joining the defending champions as a Wildcard replacement for the injured Craig Overton.

Fareed is fresh from playing in the recent third T20I against India in Bangalore.
