PAARL ROYALS DUO CALLED UP TO REVITALISE ENGLAND WHITE-BALL SQUADS

Paarl Royals’ youthful duo Jacob Bethell and John Turner have been earmarked to form part of England’s white-ball revolution after five uncapped players were named in the T20I squad for the upcoming series against Australia.

Bethell, 20, and Turner, 23, have also been included in England’s ODI squad to face the defending world champions.

England, who were the first nation to hold both the ODI and T20 Men's World Cup titles simultaneously, have suffered blowouts in both tournaments recently which has contributed to a full revamp of both coach and playing personnel.

Matthew Mott has already been relieved of his head coaching duties with former England batter Marcus Trescothick taking over on an interim basis.

Bethell has recently played an integral part of the Birmingham Phoenix’s run to the Eliminator, where they lost to the Southern Brave via Super Over in The Hundred competition, bashing 166 runs at an average of 33.20 at a strike-rate of 132.80 across seven innings.  

He has been equally prolific in the T20 Blast where he amassed 356 runs at an average of 39.55 and strike-rate of 155.45 for Birmingham Bears. 

Turner, meanwhile, has been in excellent form with the ball for Hampshire in the T20 Blast, claiming 15 wickets at an average of 22.26 with a best haul of 4/23. 

Pretoria Capitals all-rounder Will Jacks has also been included across both the T20I and ODI squads.
