Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be seeking a new bowling coach for Betway SA20 Season 4 after parting ways with Dale Steyn on Tuesday.

Steyn has been an instrumental part of the Sunrisers’ two Betway SA20 championship titles and runners-up finish over the past three seasons.

The Sunrisers’ pace attack was hugely impressive throughout Steyn’s tenure with left-arm seamer Marco Jansen finishing as Season’s 3 overall top wicket-taker, while fellow paceman Ottneil Baartman holds the record for the most wickets in Betway SA20 history.

Dale Steyn, Sunrisers Eastern Cape's outgoing bowling coach has guided Marco Jansen to the top of the Betway SA20 wicket charts after three seasons.

English imports Daniel Worrall (Season 2) and Richard Gleeson (Season 3) have all also flourished under Steyn’s mentorship.

“Thank you, Dale, for the energy, experience, and unforgettable memories. You’ll always be one of us,” the Sunrisers Eastern Cape posted.

The former Proteas spearhead was equally grateful for his time spent within the Sunrisers camp.

“Massive thanks to Sunrisers EC,” Steyn wrote on X.

“It’s been a great pleasure working with you and the best management/coaching staff I’ve ever worked with.

“3 seasons and 3 finals, twice won and a runner up, what more could one ask for, loved it,” the 42-year-old added.

“All the best to the team for season 4. Thank you and go well,” he concluded.

The 42-year-old withdrew from the last two IPL seasons where he was the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling coach. He was replaced by former New Zealand allrounder James Franklin.

Steyn remains the Proteas’ all-time highest Test wicket-taker with 439 scalps.
