The Betway SA Top 50 for Season 2 are...
At the conclusion of Betway SA20 Season 2, Heinrich Klaasen was confirmed as the Betway Player of the Season, but the strength of the League is evident by the world class performances and consistency of players throughout the top 50.
For the campaign, the League partnered with cricket’s leading analytics specialists, CricViz, to use their unique Most Valuable Player (MVP) data science model to help rank the players across the season.
The CricViz MVP model is a performance evaluation measure that is used to assess the performance of players across different roles (batting, bowling and fielding) and phases of the game. Additionally, players are rewarded for winning the match, with the captain of the winning team receiving an additional bonus.
PART 1: 50-41
All told, there are five bowlers among this cohort, as well as three batters and two allrounders, while five of the six SA20 teams are represented but Paarl Royals feature most prominently.
PART 2: 40-31
It is the spinners who dominate part 2, with a quartet included. Meanwhile, five of the six SA20 teams are represented with only the Pretoria Capitals missing out.
PART 3: 30-21
Part 3 of the series, featuring those from 21-30, is dominated by the overseas professionals with their experience and class coming to the fore.
PART 4: 20-11
The segment from 11-20 is dominated by Season 2 captains, with four of them showing their influence on the success of their teams with high positions in the MVP Countdown.
PART 5: 10-1
The strength of the League is evident by the fact that six of the top 10 are set to star for their national teams during the ICC T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA - much like they did for their SA20 franchises.
