ALL THE BETWAY CATCH 2 MILLION SEASON 3 WINNERS

13 Feb 20254 mins

Betway gave fans the chance to triple their share of the Betway Catch 2 Million pot during Season 3 and it seemed to motivate those in the stands as a record number of clean one-handed catches were taken.

A total of 13 winners were crowned in 2025 – bettering the 9 and 8 respectively from the first two seasons of Betway SA20 and the ‘winning’ happened from the off. During the opening match, Christopher Moolman gleefully snatched a left-hander from a flat Dewald Brevis six and we were off.

Match 2, between Durban’s Super Giants and Pretoria Capitals, then delivered two winners. First Jonathan Seymour clung onto a Kane Williamson slog-sweep before Will Jacks – who else! – sent a similar six straight into the right palm of Muhammad Waqas Anjum.

Kingsmead also delivered the fourth winner, Zander de Coning off a Wiaan Mulder big hit, but that was in Match 11. Worryingly, none of the successful catches had played the Betway Catch Game yet in order to triple their winnings.

Centurion, the proclaimed ‘Capital of Catches’, joined the party in Match 12 when an uber-cool Martin Boshoff clutched a Rubin Hermann six while still seated on the grass embankment!

Newlands was the only SA20 venue to not produced a winner in the first two seasons of the League, but that changed during a magical evening on 20 January when not one, not two but three incredible catches were claimed.

Richard Roos, Gavin Daries and Brendan Lowen were the trio who made history at the iconic ground during Match 13… but then the sixes started being spilled, missing outstretched hands and landing in open space.

It took another 10 matches before the next successful one-hander was taken, by Nicolaas Nortje (off red-hot Lhuan-dre Pretorius’ bat) as Boland Park became the fifth venue to produce a winner in Season 3.

Then the final group stage weekend arrived, with Pretoria Capitals hosting MI Cape Town at Centurion. Rassie van der Dussen was left impressed by Nelis Janse van Rensburg becoming the 10th winner – a seasonal record - by expertly claiming a one-hander while chilling with his mates on a platform in the grandstand before a flick from Reeza Hendricks left Hanco Hertzog ecstatic on the grass bank. Those two efforts had nothing on the third of the match, though, when Will Jacks (who else?!) smashed a six just far enough for Xander van Vuuren to pull off a forward-dive into the ‘moat’ to hang onto the 12th catch of the season that, because he had played the Betway Catch Game online, made him the first winner in line to triple his winnings.

Four days later, in a full circle moment, Dewald Brevis, again at St George’s Park, delivered the 13th and final winner of Season 3 as Neil Randall snaffled a one-hander down at long-on while wearing an MI Cape Town which arguably hinted at what was to come four days later…
