JACKS THE MAN TO BEAT IN ZOHO LONGEST SIXES BATTLE

30 Jan 20242 mins

The end of the Betway SA20 Season 2 group stage allows a momentary pause in the Zoho Longest Sixes battle, which has been red-hot.

In the first 30 matches of Season 2, sixes landed in VIP suites, on grandstand roofs and were even retrieved by passers-by in the roads outside grounds as the Zoho Longest Sixes leaderboard changed on a match-by-match basis and sometimes even multiple times within a match.

When Durban’s Super Giants Heinrich Klaasen smashed the first 100m-plus six of the season, a full 105m hit off Liam Dawson’s bowling onto the grandstand roof at Kingsmead it kick-started the Zoho Longest Sixes battle into life.

A few hours later, Joburg Super Kings duo Moeen Ali and Donovan Ferreira, joined the fun. Ali first ‘flicked’ a Hardus Viljoen delivery all of 103m and through a fence at the Wanderers before Ferreira brought up his 50 of a (then) record 18 balls with a massive 105m hit off Jimmy Neesham.

That Ferreira long-un sat atop the Zoho Longest Sixes leaderboard until Pretoria Capitals' Will Jacks whacked Keemo Paul all of 108m at Kingsmead on Tuesday evening (one of the few highlights for Capitals in another loss).

Jacks subsequently, created a buffer for himself against MI Cape Town by swatting George Linde for consecutive 108m and 107m efforts at Centurion. The problem for the Englishman now is that the Capitals are left to watch the remainder of the season.... so, will Jacks' effort remain at the top of the tree?
