RECORD MAN BREVIS LOOKING FORWARD TO CENTURION HOMECOMING

Dewald Brevis is looking forward to his homecoming when the Pretoria Capitals face off against Joburg Super Kings in the Betway SA20 clash at Centurion on Saturday.

Brevis spent the first three seasons down in Cape Town but is now back where he learnt all his cricket. The 22-year-old is looking forward to putting in a special performance before all his loved ones.

“I'm actually quite excited. My parents, my brother, mom, dad and my girlfriend, they will be sitting on the grass embankment where I've got all the special memories,” Brevis said.

“So, I'll be looking for them there. And I believe the rain will be away. But yeah, my close friends, whoever is here, they'll be here.”

The Capitals have overhauled their squad after a couple of disappointing seasons and also have a new-look coaching staff headed by Indian legend Sourav Ganguly. Brevis feels that the Capitals are locked in to do something special this coming season.

“It's been great. Everyone is really putting a lot into the team,” he said. “We had a few days, some of the boys, overseas guys, got in a bit later. We were also away, so we got in.

“But I think like the coaches, everyone just wants to create a real good environment where we can trust each other. And you can really see that. And yeah, I think we're very excited for this season.”

The Joburg Super Kings have placed their trust in a much younger squad for Season 4 and captain Faf du Plessis is looking forward to how Rising Stars such as Steve Stolk, Duan Jansen, Neil Timmers and Janco Smit perform in the cauldron of Betway SA20.

“This year, especially a very young squad,” Du Plessis said. “You get guys that have played a handful of domestic cricket in terms of T20 are now in environments where they're possibly going to look to start in the SA20 and play with players that they've only seen on TV. So, it's great learning for them.

“We have a lot of young batters in our group, so that’s really exciting. And we've seen last year the young guys come in and the way they play is very free and take the game on. So, I'm looking forward to what they can do.”
