MI CAPE TOWN'S RASSIE VAN DER DUSSEN WINS ANOTHER GLOBAL TITLE
MI Cape Town’s Rassie van der Dussen showed his experience to guide Toronto Nationals to the Global T20 Canada title yesterday.
Van der Dussen struck a composed 30 not out off 34 balls (4x4) to help the Nationals ease past the Montreal Tigers’ 96/9 with eight wickets and five overs to spare.
Batting at No 4, instead of his customary opening slot, Van der Dussen, who was recently retained by MI Cape Town for Betway SA20 Season 3, shared an unbroken partnership of 85 off 75 balls with South African-born American international Andries Gous.

Gous remained unbeaten on 58 off 49 balls.
Earlier, former Paarl Royals and Pretoria Capitals all-rounder Corbin Bosch provided some sort of respectability to the Tigers’ total with 35 off 33 balls batting at No 9.
Bosch also picked up the early wicket of former India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand, but could not deny Van der Dussen and Gous from steering the Nationals to the title.
“We started excellently with the ball and then obviously good to get it over the line finally for us,” said Gous, who batted with a broken finger.
“Got hit this morning, dropped a catch! Cost the team, so I needed to make sure I get the runs for the team.”
The Nationals had finished fourth in regular season play before winning three playoff matches on the bounce to claim their maiden GT20 Canada title.
“It’s been a helluva ride for us. And then this morning with the rain around, just waiting, but we always said that once we step over the line, we are switched on.
“Today we were really switched on, so really happy about that.”
