CAPITALS NAME MAHARAJ AS NEW CAPTAIN
Pretoria Capitals have named Keshav Maharaj as captain of their new-look squad for Betway SA20 Season 4.
Maharaj, who was the first player bought at the 2025 Player Auction (for R1.7 million), will serve as new coach Sourav Ganguly's lieutenant on the field at Centurion aiming to reverse the last two seasons trend of missing the Playoffs.
A captain who leads with intent, speaks with clarity, and plays with heart 🫡

In confirming the 35-year-old left-arm spinners role in Sky Blue, Capitals explained what he will bring to the job.
"One of South Africa’s most experienced and respected leaders, Maharaj brings a wealth of international pedigree across formats, along with a proven track record of guiding teams with composure, clarity and intent," read their statement.

"Having captained South Africa in white-ball cricket and served as a senior figure within the national setup for several years, Maharaj’s leadership experience, tactical understanding and consistency make him an invaluable addition in this role.
"His presence strengthens the balance and direction of the Pretoria Capitals squad as the team heads into the new season."
Maharaj knows what it takes to reach the back-end of SA20, having lead Durban's Super Giants to the Season 2 Final and armed with the likes of Dewald Brevis (the reigning Rising Star Award winner of the League), experienced pace bowler Lungi Ngidi and T20 superstar Andre Russell, Capitals will have this season's grand finale at Newlands on 25 January 2026 in their sights.
