Durban’s Super Giants allrounder Dayyaan Galiem is keen to call Kingsmead home in the upcoming Betway SA20 Season 4.

The 28-year-old has previously played for the Joburg Super Kings after being signed for the joint-highest purchase price of R1.6 million at the Season 2 Player Auction.

However, after experiencing limited game time at JSK, Galiem was traded to the Paarl Royals for Season 3.

It was here where Galiem played a prominent role in the Royals’ charge to the playoffs last season, featuring in 11 matches for the Boland Park-based team whilst picking up eight wickets.

But despite being the Royals’ leading seam bowler in the competition, he was not retained ahead of the Season 4 auction where DSG picked up the former Rondebosch Boys’ High School prodigy at his R200 000 base price.

“In Season 4, I'm looking most forward to just spending time with the new team, spending time with such incredible players that Durban Super Giants have brought in,” said Galiem, who also received a maiden Proteas T20I cap against Pakistan last year.

“It's going to be a lovely experience, you know, experiencing the fans there as well. You know, different ground, new home.

“So, you know, I'm looking forward to spending time there.”

Galiem’s optimism stems from his previous experiences whenever he has visited Kingsmead as an opposing player when the local crowd was fervently behind their home team.

“Whenever we've gone there, it's been quite an electric crowd. Kingsmead, what a ground,” he said.

“It's been quite a nice place to go to. Just how close people are, the grass banks, pretty awesome to be around there.

“It feels like everyone's around you. That's why I say it's quite an electric crowd because it feels like everyone is all there together, behind the fans

“And when I've gone there previously, it felt like there was only one team that was there. It was just a pretty cool experience just to get to feel everything there.”

Galiem feels this active crowd engagement at Kingsmead feeds into the overall Betway SA20 experience.

“I think SA20 is an amazing event. I think it's not just for one specific person. You know, you can come out there with friends, you can have a good time together.

“Even if you don't know a lot about cricket, you can still have a lekker jol!

“There's DJs. You can bring your kids there. It's not only, I think, about the cricket, which obviously is the main form of entertainment, but there's a lot of other things that can also be entertainment for your kids. It's entertainment for the whole family.”

DSG open their Betway SA20 Season 4 campaign against defending champions MI Cape Town in the competition opener at Newlands in Cape Town on Friday, 26 December 2025 before the return clash in front of their passionate home crowd at Kingsmead on Sunday, 28 December.
