MI Cape Town’s spearhead Kagiso Rabada is once again the No 1 ranked ICC Test bowler.

“King KG” has ascended to the throne by leapfrogging Indian duo Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin along with Australia’s Josh Hazlewood.

The 29-year-old claimed nine wickets in the first Test against Bangladesh last week in Mirpur. In the process, Rabada also became the quickest bowler in terms of deliveries to achieve 300 Test wickets.

His nine wickets, which included a second innings burst of 6/46, powered the Proteas to their first Test victory on the subcontinent since 2014.

Rabada first first topped the rankings after the Newlands Test against India in January 2018 and held the top spot for much of the next 12 months.

Rabada has continued his good form in the on-going Bangladesh series by rocking the home side’s top order with a fiery spell in the final session of the second day in Chattogram.

The speedster picked up two early wickets to plunge the home side into disarray as they finished on 38/4 in response to the Proteas’ mammoth 575/6 declared.
