FOR THE RECORD: SEASON 2 MOST DISMISSALS
Confidence breeds confidence. Last season Tristan Stubbs was low on it, this season the Sunrisers Eastern Cape starlet he has oozed it... with the excellence of his secondary role, wicketkeeping, highlighting his change in fortunes.
'Stubbo' finished Season 2 as the leading gloveman in the League, having claimed 16 dismissals - well ahead of Quinton de Kock of Durban's Super Giants' and Jos Buttler, Paarl Royals ever-present wicketkeeper.
With Adam Rossington losing his place in the Sunrisers playing XI, to accommodate Dawid Malan, Stubbs took over the gloves and did so with aplomb. The 23-year-old's highlights included a rapid-fire leg-side stumping of MI Cape Town's Sam Curran and a spectacular diving leg-side catch of Moeen Ali. The latter was part of a SA20 record haul of five dismissals in a match, against Joburg Super Kings at Wanderers.

Across the season, Stubbs was one of 10 wicketkeepers used - Buttler and his England understudy Phil Salt of Pretoria Capitals being the only players to keep wicket in all their team's matches. (MI Cape Town's Ryan Rickelton sat out an innings against Capitals as concussion precaution, with Grant Roelofsen taking the gloves. Similarly, Heinrich Klaasen relieved De Kock in two innings.)
