CORBIN HOPING TO GET BABY BROTHER EATHAN OUT WHEN SIBLING RIVALRY RESUMES DURING SEASON 3

New MI Cape Town allrounder Corbin Bosch cannot wait to face off against his brother Eathan when Betway SA20 Season 3 gets underway next year. 

Corbin played for Paarl Royals in the inaugural Betway SA20 season but joined up with Eathan at the Pretoria Capitals last season. 

The 30-year-old has since swapped Centurion for Newlands after being signed up as MI Cape Town’s Wildcard.

The sibling rivalry will therefore commence once again with Corbin hoping to finally exact some revenge on his younger brother. 

“Firstly, I'm very excited to be joining MI Cape Town. I think it's a fantastic franchise to be a part of. There's a lot of brand value when it comes to the brand. And a lot of pride and with that a lot of expectations,” Corbin said.

“So I'm really, really excited for that. I think it's going to be amazing. I cannot wait to meet up with all the guys and all the players in January.

“In January, I played with a lot of the guys. It's going to be my first time playing with some of the others. So I'm really looking forward to that.

“But it’s going to be weird (to play against Eathan) but I think that's actually something I'm more used to than actually being in the same changing room because I play against them all the time anyway.

“My only goal is to get him out since he's got me out twice. It will be nice to get one back. 

“But it's always very competitive between us and it's just something I cherish whether I play with him or against him.

“I want him to do well. Not too well, but he must do well, especially against us. It's always special just being able to share the field with him whether or not we play with or against each other.”

Playing under the watch of the magnificent Table Mountain will be nothing new for Bosch though after previously playing a couple of domestic seasons down in the Cape.  

With pitches on the coast differing vastly from the Highveld surfaces, Bosch is hoping to lean on his previous experiences as well as to tap into the knowledge of local MI Cape Town players such as George Linde.

“I think generally the T20 wickets are pretty good around the country for the most part. So I think it's more just plans.  Like your plans will change because the wickets aren't as quick at the coast as they are up north,” he said.

“It will be more subtle variations or just different plans when it comes to death bowling. You might not need to bowl your hawkers or maybe holding length is a better option or vice versa.  

“Cape Town can have a little bit of tennis ball bounce and seam around quite a bit compared to up north where the ball actually comes onto the bat.

“It was just being able to recognise which options to take at the right time whether it's battle balls. But I'll still feed off the local guys like George that plays a lot of his cricket in Cape Town.”

The Bosch brothers will have to wait until the latter group stages for their clashes with Pretoria Capitals hosting MI Cape Town at Centurion on Friday, 31 January before both teams travel down to Newlands for the rematch on Sunday, 2 February.
