The League set out to thrill local and international cricket fans and attract new audiences of all ages, and has done just that over the four seasons to date. With fans in the six host cities coming out in their numbers to support their teams and four sold out finals, Betway SA20 has marked a revival of passion and welcomed a new generation of fans.
Season 4 of the Betway SA20 was one to remember, with 22 of 34 matches completely sold out!
The Season 5 Fixtures have been announced and registering for early access tickets is the best way to secure your seats before SA20 tickets for Season 5 go on sale to the general public later in 2026.

OUR FRANCHISES
SA20 would not have come this far without the investment and commitment from our six franchise owners, who are on the same journey towards making the League the biggest in the world outside of India.
The franchises are owned by dynamic entities which have made a minimum 10-year investment which will sustain South African cricket, the players and future cricketers coming through the development pipeline. A key vision of SA20 is to grow South African cricket to produce future Proteas players and to give as many franchise players an opportunity to compete on a global stage.
The substantial investment made into the League will ensure South African cricket, it’s players and the future will be sustained.
The franchise owners are:
- Durban's Super Giants - RPSG Sports Private Limited, owners of Lucknow Super Giants
- Joburg Super Kings - Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited, owners of Chennai Super Kings
- MI Cape Town - Rise Worldwide Limited, a Reliance Industries Limited group company, owners of Mumbai Indians
- Paarl Royals - Royals Sports Group, owners of Rajasthan Royals
- Pretoria Capitals - JSW Sports, co-owners of Delhi Capitals
- Sunrisers Eastern Cape - Sun TV Network Limited, owners of Sunrisers Hyderabad
OUR PLAYERS
In Season One, the League featured six privately-owned teams of 18 players (17 full squad members and 1 Wildcard). Each team was allowed to field up to four (4) international players in a match, giving plenty of opportunities for homegrown stars and young local talent to shine while playing alongside the best in the world.
Come Season 2, a Rookie Draft was added to the playing regulations (taking squad sizes to 19), and is the League’s initiative to expose more young talent to a global stage and to some of the world’s best coaches and players. Six more Rookies followed in 2024, all of whom saw action and showed their ability on a greater stage than before.
Season 4 saw each of the six teams required to select a minimum of two Under-23 players in their 19-player squads, a new player regulation in the place of the Rookie Draft selections from the previous two auctions. The regulation was introduced to give the selected players continuity within their squads, with their contract terms in line with all other auction signings and at a market value determined at the auction. [READ MORE ABOUT THE UNDER-23 PLAYER REGULATION.]
OUR FORMAT
20 overs, all the action. Each team face each other twice in a round-robin stage (home and away) before the Playoffs. Matches are played over a 4-week period in some of South Africa’s iconic cricketing venues.
