Betway SA20 has confirmed the appointments of a top-tier team of match officials for the Season 4 Playoffs that will crown this season’s champion.

As the four knockout matches gear up to deliver fireworks on the field, it’s the cool heads off the field who will help ensure the action runs smoothly - and fairly.

The officiating duties will be shared among some of the most respected names in the game.

Two Match Referees, Four Umpires, One Big Finish

Experienced officials Gerrie Pienaar and Barry Lambson will rotate match referee duties across the Playoffs. Between them, the duo brings decades of experience from domestic and international cricket and Pienaar will oversee his fourth straight Betway SA20 Final at Newlands on 25 January 2026.

On the field, all four Playoffs will be officiated by the same panel of four umpires, rotating through the various roles. The crew includes Allahudien Paleker, a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, and three highly-regarded umpires from the ICC International Panel - Arno Jacobs, Bongani Jele, and Stephen Harris.

Each has been involved in previous Betway SA20 Finals; Paleker will be on-field for the second final in a row and he will be partnered at Newlands by Jacobs who was the TV umpire in the Season 2 Final. Meanwhile, Harris who was on-field in the Season 2 Final will serve as TV umpire this time around and Jele - reserve umpire on Sunday - was the TV umpire in the League's inaugural Final in 2023.
