Every Betway SA20 Player of the Season

Since its inaugural season in 2023, Betway SA20 has been recognising the outstanding individual performer with the Betway Player of the Season award.

This is presented at the end of the campaign to the best-performing player. In Season 1, the winner was chosen by a vote of commentators but since then, the award has gone to the player who finishes atop our MVP Rankings system.

In its inaugural campaign, Sunrisers Eastern Cape's Aiden Markram was voted as the Betway Player of the Season, not least for his 309 runs, 5 catches and captaining his charges to the title.

The following season, the MVP Rankings system was introduced and Heinrich Klaasen emerged as the campaign's best player as his contribution of 447 runs and 10 catches powered Durban's Super Giants to the Final and earned him a campaign-high 224.46 MVP Rankings points.

Come Season 3, Sunrisers Eastern Cape had to settle for the runners-up spot but Marco Jansen was at his all-round best, accumulating 179.94 MVP Rankings points thanks to 19 wickets, 204 runs and 5 catches.

In 2025/26 award remained at St George's Park, with new recruit Quinton de Kock enjoying a dream campaign in scoring 390 runs and claiming 15 catches behind the stumps which yielded 148.60 MVP Rankings points.
