EATHAN BOSCH: WE STILL HAVE A LOT OF BELIEF

Eathan Bosch claims the Pretoria Capitals' three-run victory over Sunrisers Eastern Cape showed “we still have some fire in our belly.”

The Capitals managed to post just 125 and at the halfway interval their prospects of further qualification in Betway SA20 Season 2 were hanging by a thread.

It required a virtuoso bowling performance, led by Bosch upfront in the Powerplay with last season's Betway SA20 Rising Star delivering four overs for just 11 runs and the wicket of Adam Rossington.

Captain Wayne Parnell and leg-spinner Adil Rashid then continued the momentum by taking wickets during the middle overs before seamer Daryn Dupavillion closed out the match in a thrilling last over.

“It was a clinical bowling performance. It showed we still have some fire in our belly,” Bosch said.

“I think it shows there is a lot of belief in the group. Centurion is known for a lot of runs, so to defend 120-odd really shows we are up for this and that we want to fight for a playoff spot.

“And hopefully we can take that forward into our next game.”

The victory moved the Capitals off the basement of the table for the first time this season and are now within just one point of the fourth playoff spot.

Bosch, though, still believes last season's runners-up are by no means playing to their full potential as yet.

“I think we are still looking for the perfect game. From a batting side of things, we are still trying to strive for a lot more," he said.

“I think if you look at the first two games, we were pretty close. Paarl bowled really well in their own conditions. We are just looking to get better and better every game.”

The Capitals have just one full-day to work on their batting issues before hosting neighbours Joburg Super Kings in the return Highveld Derby on Saturday (17:30).
